Good afternoon, everyone. Welcome to a Friday edition of OnQ, coming at you live inside the friendly confines of the remote SR 1029F and the Game Studios. As always, I'm your host, Rich Cañones, and uh hope everyone had a wonderful sports Thursday. You're enjoying your sports Friday, the 1st of May 2026. It is a what the freak Friday edition of OnQ Power by Our Wonderful Friends over at Fresh Roast of Coffee, Three Brooks Bourbon, and Get ReadyWithTea. You can hashtag on Q. Very easy to get in on the conversation as well. Connect with us, IG, and of course X, which was formerly Twitter at RichQ On Q, TikTok, RichQ on a mic, Rumble, Kicks, Millions, SR1029FM the game, and the YouTube channel. And let me just say this. I probably did the big time rever uh reverse mush with Philadelphia Sports. And I'm probably gonna pay the price. I don't even know if Penance is gonna be allowed in this situation, but uh I will say that I am just shocked, shocked that the Philadelphia 76ers are forcing a game seven against the Boston Celtics. Um and the action last night, I mean, you look at that Knicks and Hawks game, that game was over within five minutes. I had people text me left and right. You know, is this a real score? 40 to 15 after one, and the Knicks just annihilated, embarrassed, historically just thumped. And I don't know if they got it all out, if they emptied the chamber, but 140 to 89, Knicks close out that series 4, 2, and 6. But the Sixers to me are the story, not the Knicks in the route. Denver's a story as well, getting swept by Minnesota. We'll get into that. But the Sixers, who were left for dead in this series, and I'll be the first one to tell you. I thought the series was over. I didn't like the Sixers at all in this matchup, and quite frankly, I felt Embiid coming back would have been a hindrance. What the hell do I know? Because the Philadelphia 76ers, uh, yes, your Philadelphia 76ers, I believe, after what I saw last night, they are going to go on the road and win a game seven. They are. They're gonna go on the road and they're gonna beat the Boston Celtics. And last night, you know, the Celtics, you can see it's a tired team. It really is, relying so much on the three-point shot, you know, left it short a lot. They live and die by the three-point shot, 12 to 21. But the story last night for the Philadelphia 76ers, yeah. And Bede, you know, is showing your guts, but then you get Maxie emerging and then Paul George. And I thought Paul George was the difference. He was assertive, he was taking the ball to the basket. Uh, he was very decisive. He was making plays when he had to make plays. Uh, he was doing all the little things, a couple rebounds, a couple assists, a block, you know, and Bede gave him that double-double, 34 tough minutes. They got production all over the place. And even when they were missing shots, there was kind of a dicey proposition right around, you know, uh three-minute mark of the third bleeding in early on in the fourth, where the Sixers were up big and they kept chucking up threes, but Boston could not come back. Boston could not seal the deal. Boston couldn't actually chip into that deficit. They couldn't. And I felt if they got it down to 10, if they got it down to nine, what about six? And they just couldn't. But credit to Philadelphia 76ers because now, you know, if you're thinking about it from this standpoint as a Sixers fan, and you were kind of on the fence with Nick Nurse, you're on the fence. Well, the fact that he's pushing the Sixers against the Celtics to seven games kind of tells you right now that Nick Nurse is coming back. I mean, the Sixers to go into Boston and potentially win a game seven would be monumental. It would be monumental. And uh I counted them out. I thought Boston wins a series and five. They were up 3-1. Now they've dropped two straight. It is getting a little dicey for the Boston Celtics. Uh, you saw what the Knicks did last night. The Knicks absolutely just annihilate it. Annihilate it. And again, give credit where credit is due. Knicks win game one, they lose game two and three, they're down two one, and they rip off three straight, and they put up 140. And on, you know, it's all about adjustments too, because the last three games weren't even competitive. They weren't. Knicks won uh the fourth game by 16. They won the fifth, uh, they won game five by uh 30. And then what'd they win last night by 50-something? I mean, it was embarrassing. And you got Daniels and Robinson ejected, and it was basically a one-sided series in a series that I thought was gonna be a tough matchup for the New York Knicks. I thought Atlanta was gonna give them a little pushback. I thought Atlanta was gonna push them, but you got the effort that you needed, and you got uh contributions all over the place, but that's what the NBA and the playoffs are all about. You know, balance scoring, right? OG 29, Kat 12, Bridges 24. You only had to play, you know, Kat and Brunson 20-something odd minutes, and you basically let the uh the bench go out there. I mean, every single solitary player that stepped on the floor, even Tyler Koelick, scored for the Knicks last night. I mean, if the Knicks shoot 60% from the floor, 37% from beyond the arc, and get to the line 34 times the rest of the way, who the hell's beat him? Chances of that happening are highly, highly unlikely. Very unlikely. And then you got the Denver Nuggets. And the Denver Nuggets basically decided to go out with a whimper. For all the talk about the Denver Nuggets, for all the talk about Joker, and they go out with such a whimper, man. I, you know, if there was a team that I was really disappointed in, you win 54 games. That's embarrassing. And we can sit there and you can start to talk about the Mountain Rushmore and where you're gonna put a guy like Jokic, um, great player, Hall of Famer, right? And did everything he had to do last night, you know, 28 points, nine rebounds, triple double. Triple double. But Minnesota wins the series in six. Minnesota wins it in six. So we got a lot of hoops to get into. We got a lot of comments coming in already, so we want to get into it. Don't forget, hashtag on cue just cranking up on a Friday edition. What the freak? Friday edition. What made you say what the freak in the world? The sports quick timeout will come back on the other side. Twenty-four past three o'clock hour. A lot of MBA to dive into on this Friday. We'll touch on a little NFL two, Shiloh Sanders and his jackass comments, Russ Wilson perhaps not cooking anymore, and maybe, maybe uh retiring. We'll get into that, but we want to get some comments as you guys chime in early, often on a Friday. My guy DB chimes in. Q watch every second of that game. All the pressure is now on the Celtics. It is, it is a substantial amount of pressure now on the Boston Celtics because a lot of pundits, a lot of people, myself included, thought the Boston Celtics were going to run away with the Eastern Conference. And as I said, I mean, you have to give credit where credit is due. And, you know, the spacing on the floor would embiate Maxie being very decisive, Paul George turning back the clock, and then you have role players stepping up. And again, I feel like I'm just harping and belaboring this point. But in the NBA, come playoff time, yeah, you always need your big guns out there. You need your big guns doing what they need to do. You have to have your all-stars, your all-defensive, you know, your first team this, your second team that, your MVP caliber players. They have to. They have to always, they got to give you that consistency. The great ones are always consistent. You're allowed to have a night off here and there. But for the most part, 99.9%. Look, hell, Jordan had an off night, but you know, out of 3,000 games, he had an off-night maybe, you know, five times, right? So you saw last night when Embiid's on the floor and Embiid is locked in and healthy, he's a dangerous player. He really is. Like the talent, and it was never in question. It was just getting him on the floor and keeping him healthy and upright. Now, you might not like the theatrics and how he flips and how he flops. I get it. But when he's on the floor, and if you're gonna get that, like you saw last night, you're gonna get the production from Maxi, you're gonna get the production from the role players, you're gonna get Paul George turning back the clock, you're gonna get Edgecombe playing with confidence, the Celtics are done. The Celtics are done. You live by the three, you die by the three. That's today's MBA. That is today's NBA, it never changes. It just never changes. But again, you just you gotta give credit where credit is due. And I'll be the first one to tell you I thought bringing in Bede and back uh and beat back was a mistake. I really did. Because we saw, you know, the offense wasn't really gonna flow naturally, and then it may it maybe it just takes a game or two. And you saw the confidence last night. Maxie was playing with confidence. Maxie was taking over the game. Maxie showed you on the face of this franchise going forward. Jordan and Bede turn back the clock and they were like, hey, young gun, you know, we'll shoulder some of the burden, we'll take on some of the load. But Maxie, uh, you know, clear cut, face of this franchise, it's a no-brainer. But then when you get other players um stepping up and chipping in and shooting the ball and knocking down open shots, even when they were missing, they still never allowed Boston late to get back in that game. Even when they were chucking threes up by 17, which was driving me crazy. But they out-rebounded, they out-hustled. Uh again, you know, Boston is a team that's gonna live and die by the threes. And Boston only got to the line 16 times. All the pressure, this would be a colossal. This would be a colossal uh choke job by the Boston Celtics. It really would. You know, Tatum with a quiet 17, Brown with a quiet 18. White, you know, it looks like he can't play anymore. He looks like he's shot. And Pritchard, who had the explosive game a couple nights ago with 14, you know, when you're relying on him to make a couple big buckets, that's never a good thing. They couldn't do anything in the paint. The Sixers owned the paint. They got to the rim, they got to the hole, and they made their foul shots. They made their foul shots. Yeah, they got to the line 19 times, but they were 17 of 19, and they won by 13. In a game where they just took hold of that game late in the third, into the fourth. They started to stretch, stretch, and pull away. And like I said, the points in the paint, yeah, Boston 42, Sixers 40, but it's when they came. That's the difference. It's when they came. And again, where the Sixers, you know, up, you know, they they were up by as many as 23 in this game. Now, listen, that that's a hell of a win. That is a hell of a win for the Philadelphia 76ers. And I am always critical of the Philadelphia 76ers. I'm critical of the organization, and I'm critical of um, you know, just uh just how they go about business. But the Sixers, you got to give credit where credit is due. And like I said, I think I might have done the reverse mush because the Phillies were 9-19 when I said the day before you got to fire the manager, which they did. Now they won what, three straight? The Flyers, I was joking, weren't gonna be able to close out Pittsburgh. They win in an overtime. Reverse mush. The Sixers down 3-1, and now of a sudden it's a game seven. Uh DB says, uh, quick digression, no problem. We can we can pivot. What's Maddenly doing right with the Phillies? I don't even think it's Maddenly, to be quite honest with you. It's three games. I'm not gonna go crazy. I'm not, it's only three games. Uh, and look how they're winning, right? Walk off here, walk off there, you know, unlikely heroes. Uh, I don't think it's really anything Maddenly is doing. I don't, but the fact that this team's starting to rally and win a couple games here and there. Look, talk to me when the Phillies get to 500, a couple games over 500, because they're still eight games under 500, but they're showing you a little bit of life. A little bit of life. And again, to be fair, Sam Fran's not the best team. Now I thought there was, you know, with the weather delay, I thought that game was going to be over. It is what it is. Um, you know, Schwarber is just Feast or Famine, man. He is just Feast or Famine. They needed to make the move and fire Thompson. They slapped the tag, the interim tag on Donnie Baseball, and now they won two games. And they're starting to play a little small ball, right? And you get the walk-off wins, and you get the ribbies by Crawford. Because you go back to April 1st, and he had that 10th inning single, that uh beat Washington. But they still, they're nine and a half back of Atlanta. And here's the other thing. You know, think about this for a moment. You're nine and a half back, okay? And now we're in May. Atlanta just lost the other night, but they've won uh seven out of the last 10. They're playing almost 700 baseball. Like, there's a lot of work that needs to be made up by the Philadelphia Phillies. Now, the Phillies fire their manager because of their horrendous start, where the Mets turn around and they actually give Mendoza a vote of confidence. At 10 of 21, you give them a vote of confidence at 10 and 21 with that payroll, that lineup. And it's interesting because if you go back and you listen to their GM, right, or their president of baseball operations, David Stearns. He told MLB earlier this morning, we don't view this as a manager problem. We don't intend to make a change. Okay. You have the second most expensive roster in the majors. You've dropped 17 of your last 20. Obviously, you are not good enough. You just finished a nine-game homestand, three and six. When are you gonna start winning some baseball games? Honestly, you can talk about all the players that are struggling, the defensive gaffs, the base running gaffs, the pitching, the bullpen, but does it not fall on the manager? Does it not fall on the manager? And again, you don't want to see anyone get fired, but that's a 10-21 start. There's absolutely no way the Mets are gonna dig themselves out of this hole unless the Braves have a colossal, colossal collapse. The Mets are already 12 back. They're already 12 back, and we're having this conversation that the manager is actually safe, and it makes no sense. Javon chimes in. Sixers are playing with great energy, synergy right now, and you can see that they're carrying themselves like they can win, and they're playing free. So, very good point. The second uh point of that comment is dead on. They are playing with a boatload of confidence, and you know what else it is? I believe, too, you get to a point, you know, these these players are prideful, right? They're prideful, even though you know in certain sports, when guys are checking out, guys are making business decisions. Look, I saw for years with the Giants and the Jets. You're not tackling in the third quarter, late December, and you're losing by 30. You're making business decisions. You know, you know sometimes you you can almost mask that in the NFL. In basketball, you can, man. You can basically that wide shot. We're watching on the tube, on the set. We can see who's getting back on defense, who's trailing, who's not. The energy. The crowd lifted them up, the energy. And I just think Embiid provided that spark. And I'm not the biggest Embiid fan, and you guys know where I sit with the Sixers organization as a whole. Okay. I think all my years of criticizing them has been justified and warranted. But I will say this: any team that's down 3-1 in a best of seven series, and they look lifeless, and then they get an effusion of juice and a little energy, and they're catalyst back, and you get the veterans to step up and turn back the clock, you have to give them credit. They got absolutely lambasted in game four. The series was over. They lost by 32, and I didn't see any signs of this team coming back from that. I didn't. Now, maybe Embiid, who was 9-23 in that game, maybe he just needed to get his win back. He needed those minutes. He just had to show them, look, I'm gonna be out there. And that's the one thing I will say. And I've been one of the biggest critics of Embiid, right? But you can't question his toughness. You just can't. You can't. And if you do, you're a fool. And you're not being fair. You can't question his toughness. You want to sit there and say maybe it was a selfish act? Well, obviously, it's paying off. It's paying off. He played 34 minutes in that loss and scored 26. He comes back and plays 39 minutes, shoots 52% from the floor, and oh, by the way, scores 33 vintage embied. Last night, 34 minutes, efficient, only shot one of five from beyond the arc. So you love the fact that they were trying to get his fanny on the low block, gave him 10 rebounds, also dished out eight assists. So you're talking about a player that nearly had a triple-double. Actually, the last three games, he was near a triple double. 10-6-26, 4-8-33, 10-8, and 19. So his presence, remember the other day we talked about hey, if I'm on the floor, do I command and demand a double team? And yet you saw Boston was very late to rotating a couple times, and you make that extra pass. So the spacing on the floor is everything. But to Jovon's point, they're playing with confidence. They believe right now they can go on the road in a hostile environment because it's always tough to win a series on the road. It's always tough to go on the road. Against a rival and win a and win a game. But they already showed you, right, that they can go into Boston and beat him because they just did it on Tuesday. And I think the Celtics are in trouble. I think the Celtics are they're in trouble. And like I said, right now, 76ers are down 3-1. They were dead. And beat comes back. We're 3-3. And you want to bookmark it? Go ahead, bookmark it. The Sixers are going to go to Boston and win game seven. They're going to go to Boston and win game seven because Boston is a tired team. Boston has no answers right now. Boston is just chucking and ducking. That's all they're doing. That is all they're doing. They have no rhythm or rhyme to the offense. They're waiting for Brown or Tatum to bail them out. Where the Sixers now, you've got George turning back to clock. You got him beating gauge. You got Edgecombe, you know, a little more confidence. And you got Maxie playing like, hey, this is my friggin' team. So now you got multiple players that can come out and give you 18 to 20 plus. Boston right now, they pressed, they pressed, they pressed. And even when the Sixers were chucking it last night, and if you're watching the game, you're thinking to yourself, why are you shooting all these trees up 17? Boston still, they got clean looks. I counted at least seven to eight clean looks from beyond the arc the Boston Celtics had, and they could not knock them down. They were short. You know, front end of the rim. Your legs are tired. Mets are a, I'm gonna say it's a hot mess. There we go. A hot mess. Yes, they are a bad mess right now. A bad mess. Uh, I think playing with pride comes from those young guys, Maxine and VJ, and those vets are feeding off of that. That's another excellent point. You got these young guys, you got fresh legs, they're making plays, they're dunking, they're going to the basket, they're taking hard fouls, charges, you know, N1, and all of a sudden it elevates the big guys, right? Because name me a time. Seriously now, you guys watch basketball. Name me a time you remember Paul George as a sixer. That assertive and active. I can't. I can't. He what was he locked in? Was he locked in? I think he had like three or four straight buckets. I can't recall a time in his sixer career. Okay, in his sixer career, which has only been two seasons, Paul George decided I'm taking over. Right? Playoff P. I'm taking over. Eight of 17, 5 of 9, you know, couple rebounds, couple of assists. You don't like the turnovers, you can live with it. Couple steals on a block, active plus 11, 12 on the floor. I just don't recall a time where he he looked very comfortable in the offense. And you might sit there and say, well, I've seen him score third. No, no, no. You're missing the point. You're missing the point. I'm talking about efficiency. Over his last two games, he's 14 of 30 from the floor. 14 of 30, averaging right around 19, 17 points. You start to get him with those clean wide open looks. I'm telling you right now, Celtics are cooked. Broncos country less karate. Oh, by the way, so I don't know if I don't know if Michael, who is a big Broncos fan, saw this, but his guy, who they never let cook, by the way, never let cook with the Denver Broncos. Russell Wilson. I still maintain Russell Wilson's career ended. What was it, that first game against San Diego? Or then Los Angeles to Chargers when they elected to go for that long field goal instead of fourth and three. So he's contemplating retirement right now. And I'm telling you, he's probably gonna land a job with CBS. He can't play anymore. It's almost when you think about it, it's kind of, you know, it's it's almost sad. Does the quarterback position, does it not? I mean, you just turn old overnight. We'll we'll get into that in a couple moments. Um, how about our Knicks? Let's go. Yes. That was embarrassing last night if you're an Atlanta Hawks fan. I don't even know how you can sugarcoat that. You you can't. You really can't. I mean, the Atlanta Hawks gave you uh gave you nothing. Gave you absolutely nothing. Lexi chimes in Q. I'm glad you actually mentioned Sanders. Are you gonna expand on that? No, I I I mentioned it, Lexi, and I appreciate um you chiming in. Um, I mentioned it the uh other day. I I don't like, you know, not to pivot too much, I I don't like the comment that Shiloh Sanders, you know, is he he comes off as an arrogant little prick, to be quite honest with you. And you know, you make the comment to a pretty credible reporter and Mary Kay Cabot to go make a sandwich. Like, what are we doing? Grow up. Like, seriously. Like, grow up. She's been covering the NFL longer than you've been alive, she's gonna be there long after you, jackass. Like, sometimes these players they get so bent out of shape because someone has an opinion or they're reporting something. So she comes out the other day because we talked to Lloyd about this. And it's not so much against her, but he took Umbrich. Um, not Lloyd, but Shiloh, his brother, took Umbrich with Mary Kay Cabot, who does great work. I've interviewed her, I've had her on the radio uh many a times with the Cleveland Plane Dealer. Basically said that Deshaun Watson has emerged from Minicamp as the favorite, QB number one. And I told you, I believe you have to get a return on the investment. You got to get him out there. So she took to X, which is a cesspool, right, Twitter, and expressed her opinion. Quote, I think they should declare Watson QB1 ASAP, let the first team offense start to cook. There's no time to waste. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that comment. So, of course, because the quote becomes the subject of an Instagram post, this jackass immature kid responds by saying, Go make a sandwich, Mary. Like, seriously. Do you understand that this woman, this reporter, I should say, journalist, is the winner of the Pro Football Hall of Fame Bill Nunn Jr. Award? Do you know what that means, Shiloh? The clown. It means it's given to reporters in this field for long and distinguished contributions to pro football. Like, and this idiot, because that's what he is and who he is, little punk, makes these comments. Like, come on. Like, he and he's doubling down. Like, if you're gonna be a reporter, report, dude, what are we doing? You're not you're gonna lose this battle. You've you've lost. You're gonna lose this battle. Like, I get it, you're trying to defend your brother, but the bottom line is this your brother is not gonna be starter number one. He's not, he's not gonna be the starter for the Browns. It's gonna be Deshaun Watson. Sanders might be out of, I should or Sanders might be out of the NFL in a year. You might too. So, yeah, to Lexi's point, something I wanted to talk about a little more when we touched into the NFL, but there's just no place for that crap. Like, respect the reporter. She's allowed to have an opinion. Don't say go eat a sandwich. Come on, or make one. All right, 345, halfway through. Uh, we'll get back to the comments as well. Quick timeout. Keep it locked in on a what the freak Friday edition of on Q. Don't forget, too, you can get social with me on X, Rumble, TikTok at rich q on Q, Millions, SR1029 FM. And uh starting Monday, I need you guys that follow me and tune in. Monday to Friday, I will be um hosting the 60 second uh Destin FM scoreboard. So you can catch that if you download the Destin FM free app, Destin Florida, in the panhandle. Um uh I was brought on to um create sports content for them. It's hyperlocal. You got some really good high schools down there, colleges as well. We mix in minor league and the pros, but that's uh four to five times it's gonna run Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday in the AM. Now, I didn't know this until I was doing my research, and then it was brought to my attention. Did you know? So we're East Coast time right now, so it is 3 46. East Coast time, New Jersey, New York, Philly time. Did you know we are an hour ahead of the panhandle? I was not aware of that. I was not so you got Destin, you got Port Walton, you got Niceville, you got Crestview, you got Southwoman, you know, you're like an hour from Pensacola, Panama Beach, Mirmar. But we're an hour behind. I'm sorry, they're an hour behind. I was not aware of that. That's probably the part of school I never really paid attention to. Like, if you were to give me a map, you know, back in the day when we didn't have the cell phones and we had to write down directions or we had to use a map. I was always the guy that had a notepad and have to go to like a gas station and ask someone where I'm going, and then write it down and say, hey, can you repeat that? And I also host the uh Destin FM scoreboard show, which is on demand uh right now. Check it out at destinfm.com. All right, quick timeout, we'll come back on the other side. Skippy chimes in Q. I know you've been talking about it ad nauseum, but I can't believe I'm gonna agree with you. I don't care what the haters say. Raybo's finish, he will never make the start of the season. I haven't mentioned it in two days. You know, apparently I rubbed uh Pat's Nation um the wrong way on TikTok with a post that Rich Q on a mic. And it's funny too, it shows you how clueless some people are, right? So um somebody commented, he didn't have a wife at the time, he was widowed. And I'm like, what are you talking about? He's been married for 25 years. What are we doing? You're watching Fox? Oh, this is Andy on TikTok when I mentioned Carson Beck. Q, loving your show, caught it for the first time. Let me tell you something. I feel sorry for that team that gets Carson Beck. He's lazy, distracted, and the Cardinals are getting ready to repeat the Matt Leinert spectacle spectacle. Wow. Man, I cannot wait for football. I have a feeling there's gonna be a lot of trash talking on the air when it comes to football. But yeah, I did mention the NFL, Russ Wilson contemplating um retirement, which is interesting when you think about it because look at his career. And if you just go by Seattle, Russell Wilson is a Hall of Fame quarterback. I mean, there's there's it's not even debatable. But what we have a tendency to do is we don't remember that, you know, first arc, right? Like if you go back and you look at Russell Wilson when he was with Seattle, you know, Russell Wilson put up some monster numbers. He had some unbelievable years with the Seahawks, Legion of Dune, getting to the playoffs, you know, um, winning a Super Bowl, should have won multiple ones, right? Marshawn Lynch, right? Feed the Beast. They don't, the slant, Malcolm Butler. Then he goes to Denver. And that second and final year in Denver, he actually threw 26 touchdowns, nine picks, but you just knew the offense was bad and you knew that Peyton wasn't his guy. He goes to Pittsburgh, a little bit of a cup of coffee, but again, in 11 games, 16 touchdowns, five picks. Now we knew with the Giants it was a bad hire. A bad hire. It was a bad signing. We knew that. But I'm not gonna sit here and say Russell Wilson, uh, the last several years is no longer a if he were to if he were to retire today, right? You know, you're talking about 10 Pro Bowls, decide what you want when it comes to uh Pro Bowls. He's got a ring, should have won two, but the conversation in life isn't should have. He's top 15 all time in stats, passing touchdowns, efficiency. And I think the detractors are gonna come out if he decides to retire, he played himself out of the Hall of Fame. And I just uh it it just it bothers me sometimes, right? It bothers me. So we're gonna go by uh 30-something odd games after he left Seattle because you knew that it wasn't gonna work out. He wanted out, they wanted to move on from him. I mean, it was a bad fit, it ran its course, but quarterbacks get old overnight. They do. They get old overnight. Now, I'll tell you this: if you're gonna sit there and tell me that Russell Wilson's a Hall of Fame quarterback, I got news for you. The Neli Manning is a shoein' with two MVPs winning two Super Bowls. Now, Russell Wilson's career record, 120 wins, 73 losses. You look at the last 40 or 34 games, um, no, 44 games of his career, 17 to 27. I mean, is that enough? Are you gonna look at Russell Wilson if he does decide to retire the last three seasons of his career? We're gonna forget about the first 10, 11. I think Russell Wilson is a Hall of Fame quarterback. That's kind of where I'm going with this. I think he's a Hall of Fame quarterback. Now, obviously, you get to a certain point, like any quarterback that is a 39-year-old, 40-year-old, 41, 42, what happens? You lose a little bit of the fastball. You know, can I sit there then? Is it fair? Look at how great, all those great teams that Aaron Rodgers was on. And I'm not comparing the two. What I'm saying is this if you're gonna criticize Russell Wilson, and they're both, I know a lot of people don't like either quarterback, but if you're gonna criticize, you know, Russell Wilson for the last several years, pardon me, of his career, well, Aaron Rodgers hasn't really played well. Pardon me, he hasn't. He hasn't. But Aaron Rodgers' numbers, the MVPs, um, the passing yards, you know, it it dwarfs, pardon me again, it dwarfs Russell Wilson. But there's always that criticism, right? Let's not forget about the first 15 years. You just can't. That's not fair. I think Russell Wilson, when it's all said and done, I think Russell Wilson makes the Hall of Fame. I do. I think he makes the Hall of Fame. And I think you got to look at his contemporaries as well. And listen, the quarterback position, you can always sit there. There's there are certain cases where you have to say, shooing, rollerblade, here we go. And then there are guys that are debatable. There are guys that are debatable. Like I've always said this, Eli's my guy. And I know for a fact, 2007, right, they call lightning at a bottle, but 2011, if you go back and you watch every snap like I have, he carried that team. He carried that offense. You know, Eli Manning, his two great playoff runs, he was almost flawless. And look at the quarterbacks he beat. Went into Lambo twice, beat Aaron Rodgers, right? Prior to that, 2007, beat Brett Favre. Dallas, number one seed, beat them. Green Bay, 15-1, beat them. Beat Tom Brady twice. There's something to be said about that. So it might take him a long time. Hall of Fame, Russell Wilson, Hall of Fame. I think Wilson's best days are behind him. Perplexing to me how his moon ball is still effective because he just chucks it up. You know, it's almost like a heavyweight. What's the last thing to go? Maybe the power, right? I mean, his moon ball, he just throws it up there and it sits up there forever. But he's not the guy that can run around the pocket like he used to and scramble around. He isn't. That was his best attribute. Just like Aaron Rodgers' best attribute was he was able to slide around a little bit. You know, slide to your left, slide to your right, make some plays, here we go, fling it across his body, 50 yards. But the days of Aaron Rodgers, 2020, Aaron Rodgers is no longer. 2021, Aaron Rodgers is no longer. Also, coming off the torn Achilles, two years removed from that, he's just not the same guy. He's just not the same guy. And sometimes you got to sit there and you've got to make that decision. We're gonna go in a different direction. I mean, it's absolutely ludicrous that the Pittsburgh Steelers don't really have an answer at quarterback. They don't, they have no idea who's gonna be their quarterback. None. None whatsoever. At all. None. Uh Doss chimes in. Q, if he retired right before going to Denver, I would say yes, but the finger injury really was Deanna Prime Russ. There were some shades of old school Russ in week two against Cowboys, but that's pretty much it. Enjoying the show. Uh, that's actually a good comment. Appreciate you chiming in. Appreciate it, appreciate it, appreciate it. Uh, yeah, but you know, hey, Kurt Warner had hand problems, right? Couldn't grip the football, got benched, fumbling all over the place, went to uh got you know cast off by the Giants after a handful of games, and then went to Arizona and resurrected that career, right? I'm just saying. I'm just saying. Uh, what's the rod chimes in Q? Think about it. Wilson could be the new face of CBS Sports if he joins a TV studio. I don't think he's the most likable guy as you mentioned, but he seems well spoken. Uh, I'm not gonna say, you know, the face. People, listen, I had Brandon Jacobs on many a times when we did our pod. And he said the one thing that always stood out about Russell Wilson, he always thought pretty much he was he was a fraud. He was a fraud. And he told me the time that at that time when Russell Wilson was with Seattle, and Brandon was friends with a couple of the Seahawks, um, I guess they got on the topic of Russell Wilson, and he basically said, listen, man, every quarterback in the NFL, every quarterback in the NFL gives uh their teammates, especially the offensive guys, their cell phone number. Russell Wilson never did that. You had to go through a secretary. Think about that. Uh MG chimes in. Uh Q, in case you forgot what type of, you know what Russ was on back in 2018. Perfect passer rating of 158. Targeting locking on 70 targets. Remember, those guys were Cam Miss. Previous high for number of targets with a passing rating between a quarterback and Y Street was 15. Hands down. Hall of Famer. Uh Billy Boy chimes in. Garbage without Marshawn. Hated by everyone, both, no in between. Um, you need a ground game in the NFL. You need it. You need it, AJ Brown for president uh on XQ. I think you said it perfectly. You know, him flaming out. Maybe it's one of the worst declines we've ever seen in NFL history. It's bad. Now, is he a Hall of Famer? Yes. Is he a first ballot Hall of Famer? He might. have to wait right and and and the problem is when I look at quarterbacks so are you gonna remember peyton manning who had noodle arm with Denver or you gonna man uh you're gonna remember Peyton Manning peak Peyton Manning with the Colts now even though Peyton Manning had an unbelievable season that first season with Denver now I remember at the time I was having a conversation with my father and my father said he goes somewhere else he he's gonna be MVP next year and that's exactly what happened I mean it's crazy when you think about it crazy right or maybe it was the second year he didn't play in 2011 his first season with Denver uh they won 13 games his second season is when he threw for 55 touchdowns I mean it was just it was just amazing and that 2000 by the way that 2017 or no 2000 I keep saying 17 2013 uh or 2012 team was really good and they lost that crazy game if you remember to Baltimore they lost that that crazy game i i think that's when the uh the DB misplayed it right and and and and Flacco hit him late and then they won that game um 38 35 they won in an overtime right was it at the Jacoby Jones remember flacco just flung it down the sideline that's a brutal loss that is a brutal loss for the Broncos they were favored in that game too but point is you you remember Peyton in his prime you know Favre in his prime right uh it it's you're not looking at Joe Namath and people can debate whether he should be in the Hall of Fame or not he's in but you're not thinking of Joe Namath with the Rams. You're thinking of Namath with the Jets okay so you know Johnny Unitis you're thinking of Johnny Unitis with the Colts not the Chargers in 70 right moon ball is deadly accurate and you would think DBs can run under and intercept it but they can't nah I mean it's it's a moon ball it's unbelievable. McNabb's flame out his last two years in the league wasn't great Cole Pepper another quarterback that comes to mind who dropped off after 2004. You know I think everyone saw it coming with McNabb and I remember going back because I I covered those Eagles teams I covered that NFC East and I went on the and I and I played the quote for you I played the clip when I was doing those spots uh on a Fox Sports affiliate down in Florida and all this stuff was happening McNabb and I said the Eagles are going to trade them and I don't need to get into it because we know Philadelphia outlets stole it. We know that it's documented but I came on the air and I said you know they asked me give give give me a team where you think McNabb can go and I said Washington I either had I was pretty adamant on Washington and I might have also said but also look out for Pittsburgh. But Washington I was pretty adamant because I heard rumblings that Washington wanted to make a move for McNabb now he won 10 games in 2009 with the Eagles his last season he threw 22 touchdown passes Washington he only played 13 games he struggled and Minnesota he was a shell of himself the problem with McNabb is McNabb was always injured. McNabb was always missing games he was always missing time McNabb only played 16 games an entire season four times in his career and I asked him I think it was right around 2004 2004 and then coincidentally enough he got hurt in 2005 you know why do you lift so much because the knock on McNabb was he was built he was a strong quarterback Donovan McNabb was a strong quarterback and you might not like the way he threw the football the warm burners but his lower body his trunks were strong that led to McNabb being such a hard quarterback to sack and tackle but you know what else it led to injuries because he he he said later on he just never stretched enough he wanted to put on bulk you know he to he had to build like a like a Dante Culpepper like he was a big top heavy quarterback. You know even though McNabb was 6'2 he was probably weighing about 245 250 so the body you're overcompensating right you know you're tight up top you're tearing tendons you know you're running around you're not stretching okay hand me knee ligament you're tearing stuff you know some of the stuff was fluky right you know the ankle injury the broken leg throwing three touchdown passes in the mist against the Cardinals right the stuff of legend McNabb was always a good quarterback at times a great quarterback not a hall of fame quarterback because he never really had that big moment and don't give me fourth and 26 where friggin' green decided to go hang out in the parking lot but to your point you know yes the last couple years it's different though Russell Wilson was on a fast track to the Hall of Fame if Russell Wilson would have retired instead of going to Denver we're not even having this conversation it's not even up for debate he's a Hall of Famer and people can get on Pete Carroll for not running the football but if you go back and you watch all the uh behind the scenes that was the right play call as as perplexing as it might sound for me to say it out loud they got the coverage they wanted Malcolm Butler just jumped the ball because Belichick and the Patriots the brilliance of Bill Belichick they practiced that play all week long leading up to the Super Bowl they practiced that play. Now I get it it's so easy to sit there and say run it run it run it run it well in that situation everyone's expecting the run Butler just made a fantastic break on the football I mean that that ball was thrown where it's just they they just you know the idea the play call they just didn't execute they just did not execute and they lost in the worst fashionable way you're talking about you know uh preventing a go-ahead touchdown and by the way one of the great plays in Super Bowl history and also kept that dynasty cooking and alive so if Russell Wilson would have won another Super Bowl we're not again look at his numbers look at a body of work I remember watching Seattle with my buddies I'm like man this Wilson this this kid can play he's unbelievable he's unbelievable so you take away the last several years he's a Hall of Famer am I really gonna get on a guy for wanting to um you know extend his career because we got compilers right all the time look at Bradzi Payton was that dude for a while any team he went to would have been an instant contender and probably Super Bowl winner. Yeah but remember he was coming off the neck injury right and people didn't know if he can throw the football anymore and then he turned into noodle arm yeah look you're talking about the Mount Rushmores of the Mount Rushmores that's what you're talking about. You're talking about the all-time greats but I look at Russell Wilson and I think he's a Hall of Famer and it's just a question of is it going to be first ballot which we have to wait to see when he retires if or when he retires all right I mentioned you've got a game seven in the NBA dare we say it a game seven in the NBA you got the isolated window tomorrow Boston Celtics at home lay in seven and a half series is knotted up at three games a piece wow I mean this would be a colossal choke job in Boston sports history if they can't close that out at home and now you got the Sixers playing the we're tired of losing the Boston card you got the Sixers playing we're gonna shock the world card you got the Sixers playing no one's giving us a chance in Hell card you got the Sixers saying that jackass that does on Q buried us when we were 3-1. The hole was dug the line was placed we didn't put the bodies in just yet I get it listen I get it absolutely get it uh Tim Chimes in Summers Point Q excellent job with the Maxi comment by the way if you go back and watch that game the play that stood out last night when he went right down the lane I thought he was going to cup it and dunk it instead he went underneath for a gorgeous lay in that's called playing with confidence yes Timmy boy that's exactly what that is that is playing with confidence and when you realize you got a team with their backs against the wall and now Boston has to wonder okay these guys are putting on the floor they're getting to the line they're drawing contact ooh it's gonna be a tough out I think the Sixers go on the road and win tomorrow and this is not this is not a reverse mush. I'm just being really honest if Embiid gives them that 25 and 10 and George maintains this pace this level they out rebound they don't let Tatum and and and Brown go off and they weather that early storm the crowd you know if Brown Tatum are knocking down threes and all of a sudden they find themselves down 12 to 4 and nurse got to call a quick timeout the crowd's into it six minutes in if the Sixers can figure out a way like a fighter who's an underdog get through the first couple rounds you know use that jab use your legs move around a little bit that's your best asset you know cut down the real estate get in get out of the pocket if the Sixers can figure out a way to not get overwhelmed game seven on the road to Mystique Boston to Celtics you know arguably the best team in the Eastern Conference here we go a team that's won championships they know how to close out they know how to win if they can get past all that uh muck all that nonsense right smoke and mirrors and if they can keep this game close going into the fourth quarter then yeah I'd like their I like their their their chances and I'm and I'm gonna tell you why because it's the big man is the X factor. As long as he's on the floor and he's getting his now you've got to slide you got to rotate you got to double now it's opening up the spacing this is where the edge comb the rookie can make a difference maxi makes that difference PG makes that difference the bench makes that difference the interior now you're getting the big man back on the low block doing what he does best drawing the double for the kick out and I'll say it again the close I believe the Sixers go on the road tomorrow night and they win this game. And it would be a colossal choke job by the Boston Celtics a colossal choke job just to put it in perspective the Boston Celtics were up 3-1. If they blow this series and lose game seven they will be the 14th team in NBA history to blow a 3-1 lead that's company you don't want to keep it's a meltdown. Game five they scored 11 points in the fourth they missed our final 16 third quarter they blew multiple 20 point leads in the middle of the third quarter right you're talking about the the the struggles you're talking about the criticism they can't contain embiid their defense stinks and they live and die by the three I mean they completely choked in the fourth quarter and blew game five and what do you do you give a team like the Philadelphia 76ers life and now they believe like Joe Bond said like Tom said like Joe D said like Kevin said like Sarge said they believe now so the argument all you gotta do is win it home no you gotta do it on a game seven should have closed him out last night man the last thing you want to do is give life you don't want to back up a wounded animal and Jalen Brown brutal down the stretch the other night Derek White missing wide open threes I mean these are clean looks that is a big problem that's not being talked about it's not and in the biggest game of the season the Celtics had their worst fourth quarter of the year now think about that think about that for a second so you set yourself up where you had to sweep all three games in Philly or win a game seven now it's a ladder you gotta win a game seven white looks shot Brown's a little tentative and and you know Tatum's gonna get his but sometimes he forces the issue Sixers are winning tomorrow uh Joe chimes in queue maybe just maybe is it possible it was a bad idea for Jalen Brown to go in his pot and state the Sixers were better off with Adam Bede come on man I mean I said it right but hey I don't you know players talk right players talk now Sixers are winning this one tomorrow all right gotta start wrapping up got hoops later on good stuff for the 60 you guys chiming in and keeping me locked in appreciate that as always on this Friday edition of OnQ.
